Teacher’s Bio

My passion for learning has taken me from the Piedmont of North Carolina to Atlanta, New York, San Francisco, and beyond. While working in documentary television, I found my way to yoga in Beachwood Canyon, immersing myself in Southern California’s rich yoga culture.

Yet, my heart was always drawn to the South Appalachian Mountains. In 2017, I made the transition from bi-coastal living to full-time residency in Western North Carolina—home at last. The tranquility of these hills and rivers has allowed me to deepen my practice and help others do the same.

Holding space, exploring possibility, and inviting transformation are my specialties. I would be honored to support you on your journey.

Warmly, PJ, E-RYT 200, Certified Mindfulness Teacher, B. Msc., C.P. of Hypnosis

FAQ

Why choose private lessons over a public class?
Focused guidance is great for students who are new to yoga, have postural or alignment questions, or those that seek the focused attention that can only be provided one on one.

How does a private session work? Call 828.222.4965 to book and appointment. We’ll arrange to meet at a downtown studio, a serene outdoor location, or I’ll come to your home, office or community center.

Is yoga safe for me? We’ll work together to build a practice that is uniquely designed for your needs and wishes, taking into consideration conditions such as hypertension, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, spinal compression, pregnancy, etc.

Why is yoga effective? Yoga poses not only helps to remove postural imbalances and structural misalignments, its relaxing, therapeutic properties help bring the body, heart and mind into a coherent state.

What can I expect from regular practice?
Most people experience a greater sense of health, well being and calm. With proper alignment and breathing, the body, brain and heart are better able to function at peak flow.

Can I practice yoga if I have injuries? Yes, if your doctor or chiropractor consents; often people find they are able to maintain a regular practice, despite injuries. Yoga can be an effective tool in rehabilitation from a variety of conditions.

Why do you not offer virtual sessions? The energy exchange between teacher and client as well as the sights, smells and sounds that come from a lived experience are either diminished or non-existent in a virtual session.

How many sessions will I need? The number of session varies with each individual’s goals. Some people will want one or two visits, and others may enjoy visits for months or even years.

Can my child take a private lesson?  Yes of course! Children as young as 9 are welcome to train with you, at 1/2 price.

What other forms of healing arts and counseling do you practice? My toolbox includes personal training, trauma sensitive yoga and attunement meditation. Additionally I am an Ordained Metaphysical Minister, a Certified Practitioner of Hypnosis, and a 30 yr. practitioner of Western Natal Astrology.

Is yoga a belief system? The word ‘yoga’ comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ which means ‘to yoke, join or unite’. Yoga poses are a physcial practice that build stability, flexibility, balance and srength. They can be done by anyone regardless of religion or spiritual beliefs.

Do you have a sliding scale? No, however if money is an issue please let me know what type of energy exchange works better for you. No one who sincerely seeks guidance will be turned away.

What forms of payment do you accept? Credit, Cash & BTC

Can we meet outside of Murphy? We certainly can. Travel up to 10 miles from downtown Murphy is included with each session. Longer trips incur reasonable mileage fees.

Should I call or text? Both are good. Please leave a detailed message at  828.222.4965 and I will be in touch ASAP.
